Bishop Carter Group
March 17, 2008
At the office of the Lighthouse Development Group, members of the Long Island Conference of Clergy were invited to discuss the interests and concerns of their congregations. For some, the meeting was a reintroduction to the project, as Charles B. Wang had started a dialogue with several of the pastors when the project first started.
Most of what was discussed in the meeting included taxes, next generation housing, traffic, job creation and small business opportunities.
"Business opportunities and job creation are important elements of the project," said Paul Lancey, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications for the Lighthouse Development Group. "We want the community to be aware of and participate in opportunities that will be available to them."
Said Reverend Reginald Tuggle of the Memorial Presbyterian Church in Roosevelt: "I was pleased to be here today learn more about the Lighthouse project. I am supportive of the process of meeting with the community to ensure concerns we have are addressed. Building the Lighthouse is something that will have a positive impact on the region."
The pastors at the meeting included Bishop Ronald Carter of the Refuge Church of God and Christ, Bishop Al Henry of End Time Ministries and Bishop R.W. Harris of Grace Cathedral. All were all interested giving their congregants the benefit of further meetings held at their Churches.
